Does anyone else make their kids write thank you notes?

My wife thinks I'm old fashioned but after Christmas and birthdays I require handwritten thank you notes before anything else happens. Takes maybe 15 minutes per gift. My dad did this with me and I never forgot the lesson about gratitude and respect. Kids complain but they're learning. Anyone else doing this or am I the only one left?

You're not old fashioned at all, man. I make mine do the same thing and honestly it teaches them gratitude better than anything else. Fifteen minutes of their time is worth it.
