Dress codes and standards matter
Got into it with my teenage son about wanting to wear some ridiculous outfit to church. I told him we show up to the Lord's house the way we'd show up to meet the President. You dress decently, you act right, you show respect. He groaned but got it. People don't dress up anymore but I'm not raising boys who think standards are optional. That's how society falls apart.
Honestly standards do matter but also remember he's testing boundaries which is his job. My approach has always been explain the why not just lay down the law. Kids respect that more.
