Why are we handing out trophies to kids who finish last? My 10 year old came home with a medal for losing his baseball tournament and I about lost my mind. What happened to teaching kids that hard work and winning matters? You don't get a participation trophy in real life. This soft generation talk is real and I'm done staying quiet about it.
The issue isn't really the trophy, it's that kids these days don't experience actual failure and learning from it. That's the real problem. We're shielding them too much.
I get what you're saying but honestly the participation trophy thing is way overblown. My kids don't care about the medals at all. They're more excited about the snacks after the game lol.
Hard disagree. These things boost confidence and keep kids engaged in sports. Not every kid is going to be a star athlete and that's totally fine. The goal at that age should be having fun.

My 10 year old literally lost his participation medal in the car two days after getting it. Kids don't value them the way we think they do. Save your energy for the stuff that actually matters.
