Coworker made some comment about how I'm living in the 1950s because I mentioned opening doors for my wife and planning to teach my daughter that kind of chivalry matters. Didn't get into it with him but it bugged me. Feel like we've lost something when treating women with respect is seen as backwards. Just needed to vent.
I get called old school at work all the time for similar stuff and honestly I wear it as a badge. The alternative is being rude and I'm not interested in that.
Opening doors for people isn't old fashioned, it's just being considerate. Your coworker sounds like they have the wrong take.
There's nothing wrong with having manners and treating people with respect. That's not 1950s, that's just being a decent human.

Dude people appreciate it even if they don't say so. I've had so many women tell me they appreciate when guys hold doors. It's a small thing but it matters.
