Got passed over for a promotion by someone less qualified
Been at my company for 8 years, came in early, stayed late, did honest work every single day. Found out they gave the job to a younger guy with half my experience because apparently he's more 'innovative' or some nonsense. My first instinct was to blow off steam but I took a breath instead. Told my boss congratulations and that I'm ready to support the new guy in any way I can. My old man would tell me that's how a real man handles disappointment. Still stings though.
That sucks man, genuinely. But don't let this poison how you show up at work. Your kids are watching how you handle disappointment. I try to remember that when things don't go my way - my kids learn more from how I respond than from getting what I want.
