How do you handle it when someone disrespects you?

Guy at work made a comment about something I said in a meeting and made me look bad in front of the boss. My first instinct was to go off but I didn't. Waited til later and had a private conversation with him, calm and respectful but made it clear his comment was out of line. He apologized. Handled it the right way but it bothered me all day. How do you guys deal with this stuff? I feel like the old way would've been different but we gotta be professional now I guess.
