How do you handle it when someone disrespects your family?

My neighbor made a crude comment about my daughter in front of me last week. I'm still mad thinking about it. Part of me wanted to handle it the old fashioned way but I know that's not the answer in 2024. I told him off pretty firmly and made it clear he needs to apologize or we're not neighbors anymore. My wife thought I handled it well but I feel like I should have done more to protect her honor. What do you guys do in these situations?
