How do you raise boys to be real men?

I've got two sons and I want to make sure they grow up with strong values. I teach them to take responsibility for their mistakes, to be honest even when it's hard, to help people without asking for credit. I try to show them through my actions more than my words. I work on my marriage like it matters because it does. I show up for my commitments. I treat the janitor with the same respect as the CEO. Are there other guys out there doing the same? What's working for you?

My four kids range from 8 to 16 and honestly the best thing I did was model it. They watch what you do way more than what you say. Being honest about your own mistakes goes a long way.

Strong values are important but also let them fail sometimes. My boys learned more from messing up than anything I could lecture them about. They need to know you've got their back either way.

I think responsibility is huge, but also teach them to listen and respect people different from them. That's how real men actually show their strength. Sounds like you're on the right track.
