Leading by example when you feel like you're failing
Been a rough stretch at work and home. Lost my temper with the boys over something stupid last week. Sat them down the next morning and told them straight up that I was wrong, I apologized, and explained what was really bothering me. My oldest said 'thanks for admitting you messed up Dad.' That's when I realized that admitting weakness and taking responsibility is actually part of being a real man. Our fathers never did that and look how that turned out.
That's real man, sitting them down the next morning and owning it is exactly what they need to see. My boys respect me more when I admit I messed up than when I pretend I'm perfect.
