Leading your family doesn't mean being a dictator
I see a lot of fathers confuse leadership with authoritarianism. Real leadership in a family is about being a steady hand, making tough decisions, providing for them, protecting them, but also listening to your wife and kids. You set the tone through your actions. You earn respect, you don't demand it. That's what my father taught me and that's what I'm trying to pass down.
There's such a difference between being firm with boundaries and being a tyrant about everything. Kids need to know you're in charge but also that you respect them as people.
