My boy stood up to a bully today and didn't throw a punch

Heard from his teacher that some kid was being disrespectful and my son calmly told him to stop and walked away. Teacher said the bully actually seemed surprised. I always tell my kids strength isn't about being the toughest it's about having the confidence to not need to prove anything. Proud doesn't even cover it.

Your son learned from you that the tough response isn't always the fist. He's got a good head on his shoulders.

This is way harder to teach than aggression honestly. Most kids his age would've swung. He's got maturity.

Teaching him that violence isn't the answer is hard but you're doing it right. Not everyone can keep their cool when someone disrespects them.

That's the real strength right there. Throwing a punch is easy, walking away or using words takes actual courage. His teacher was right to flag that.
