My Dad Taught Me Something About Keeping Your Word
Had to cancel on a hunting trip with my buddies because work got crazy. Hated doing it but I was already stretched thin. My dad called and reminded me that my word is my bond and that real men don't make promises they can't keep. He was right. I should have been more careful about committing in the first place. Going forward I'm being a lot more intentional about what I say yes to. Can't be a man of honor if you're constantly backing out of your commitments.
This is the good stuff right here. Teaching your kids that your word means something is honestly one of the best things you can do. They'll remember you canceling respectfully way more than if you'd just ghosted your buddies.
