My Dad Taught Me to Never Back Down From Hard Work

Just watched my oldest turn down an easy job opportunity because he said the hours would be too convenient and he wouldnt be building any real skills. Made me proud. My old man used to say that comfort is the enemy of growth. He worked sunrise to sunset his whole life and never complained once. Didnt always understand it as a kid but now with my own family I get it. There's honor in an honest day's work even when nobody's watching.

Honestly man, that's the dream right there. So many kids these days just chase the easy path. The fact that your son is thinking about the work itself and not just the convenience shows you did something right. Keep that up.

That's awesome to hear. I'm still in the trenches with my 7 year old but this gives me hope that the work ethic stuff actually takes root if you keep at it.

This is what it's all about. My oldest did something similar last year and I couldn't have been prouder. He turned down a management gig because the actual work didn't interest him, even though the paycheck would've been sweet. Said he'd rather build something he believed in. That's the lesson sticking.
