My daughter asked why I still hold my wife's chair at dinner

She asked if it was old-fashioned. I told her it's a sign of respect and care, not because her mother can't do it herself but because it shows love through small gestures. Want to make sure my kids understand that chivalry and tradition aren't about being controlling, they're about honor and consideration. Having trouble explaining it in a way that makes sense to the modern world though.

Love this. It's definitely gotten the side eye sometimes but I still do it. I figure if it teaches her that respect is an action, not just a word, then it's worth the occasional awkward moment.
This right here. My kids see me do this stuff and it just becomes normal to them. They're not questioning whether it's old-fashioned, they're just learning what consideration looks like.
