My daughter is dating and I'm struggling

My 16 year old told us she's seeing someone. Kid seems alright from what I can tell but I'm trying to figure out how to handle this the right way. I want to be protective without being overbearing. Want to sit down with him but don't want to come across as some crazy dad. How have you guys navigated this? What's the proper way to set expectations and boundaries without overstepping?
