My father in law called me out for not being present enough with my family
Had Sunday dinner at his place last week and he pulled me aside to tell me I needed to be more of a leader at home and less glued to my phone. At first I got defensive but he was right. He talked about how his generation took responsibility and showed up for their families in real ways. Made me think about what kind of example I'm setting. Anyone else get that wake up call and actually do something about it?
That's actually good real talk from him even if it stung. I struggle with this constantly between work and trying to be present. But when I really stop and engage, my kids remember those moments way more than anything else. Maybe use it as a wake up call rather than getting defensive about it.
