My wife's father passed and I dropped everything
Got the call at work on Tuesday. Father-in-law had a massive stroke. I told my boss I was leaving and drove 4 hours to be with my family. Stayed the whole week helping with arrangements, sitting with her mom, handling what needed to be handled. My wife needed me there and that's all that mattered. This is what being a man is about - showing up when it counts.
That's what it's all about right there. Your boss will understand. Family first, always. Sounds like you did exactly what you needed to do.
