My wife wants me to do more housework

She's been on me about helping more around the house but that's not how I was raised. I work hard to provide for my family and maintain the house and yard. That's my responsibility. The household stuff was always my mother's domain and my mom never complained. I feel like if I start taking over her duties it weakens the natural order of things. How do you guys balance this without losing your role as head of the household?

My kids started helping with chores and it actually brought us closer. Maybe frame it as teaching them responsibility instead of just 'doing housework.' That's how I got on board with it.

I hear you on the work front, but my wife helped me see that housework IS maintaining the house. We split it now and honestly it's made things easier for everyone. She's not asking you to skip providing, just to share the load.
