Neighbor disrespected my wife, how should I have handled it?

Our neighbor made a sarcastic comment about my wife's gardening in front of everyone at the block party. It wasn't a huge deal but it was dismissive and rude. I told him to knock it off and walked away. My buddy said I should have gone harder on him, but I didn't want to make it worse. I feel like a real man stands up for his family but also keeps his cool. Did I handle that right or should I have said more?

The gentlemans code thing is knowing when to stand up for your wife and when to let it go. Was it serious enough to damage your neighborhood vibe long term or just annoying?

What kind of comment did he make? Sometimes I just let stuff roll off but when someone takes a shot at my wife that's different. You gotta protect your family's honor.

Depends on what he said honestly. If it was real disrespectful I would've handled it right there calmly but firmly. Don't need to make a scene but he needs to know that's not okay.
