Neighbors think I'm crazy for teaching my kids to do chores without payment
My kids help around the house because they're part of the family, not because they get paid. They take out trash, mow the lawn, help with their siblings. Some of the neighbors said I'm being too hard on them but my oldest is 14 and more responsible than most 20 year olds. He understands duty and work ethic. You teach a man to expect payment for basic responsibilities and he becomes soft. I'm raising men who understand that taking care of what's yours is just what you do. No trophy, no payment. Just pride in doing right.
This is exactly how we're raising our three. Your neighbors might not get it but in 10 years your kids will be the ones who actually know how to take care of themselves and a household.
