Old fashioned courtship - is it even relevant anymore?

My son is 16 and likes a girl. I told him to ask her on a proper date, be a gentleman about it, open doors, pick up the check. He laughed and said nobody does that anymore. But I think there's still something to respecting a young lady and showing her she matters. Maybe I'm stuck in the past but I'd rather raise a man who knows how to treat people right than one who just swipes on his phone.
