On respecting your wife in front of the kids

Seeing too much of this lately. Fellas if you don't respect your wife in public and in private then your kids won't either. I make a point to speak kindly about her to the kids and I never argue with her in front of them. If we disagree we handle it behind closed doors like adults. The way you treat the mother of your children sets the standard for how your sons will treat women and how your daughters will expect to be treated. This is foundational stuff.

Amen to this. My ex and I didn't model this well and I see the effects on my kids now. You set the standard for how they'll treat their future partners.

Real talk right here. If you're cutting down your wife in front of the kids you're teaching them that's how relationships work. That's a hard habit to break later.

Well said. Even when I'm exhausted from work and the day's chaos, I make sure my wife knows she's valued in front of the kids. It matters.

This needs to be said more often. My kids pick up on everything, and if they see me disrespecting their mom it teaches them the wrong lesson about relationships.

This is everything. My kids pick up on how I talk to my wife way more than I thought they would. Started being intentional about it and it changed the whole dynamic at home.
