Opening doors and other things that matter

Took my family to dinner last night and watched my oldest open the door for his mother. She smiled at him and I felt something proud in my chest. These little acts of respect and service mean something. In a world that's getting softer by the day we've got to hold onto the idea that being a man means taking care of others and treating people with courtesy. My boys see their dad doing it and they do it too. That's how you pass it forward.

Those moments stay with you. My son opened a door for someone last week without being asked and I felt that same thing. It means the lessons are getting through.
