Raising boys in a world that doesn't value manhood
Anyone else feel like we're swimming upstream trying to teach our kids about real responsibility and integrity? Everything around them says be soft, be sensitive, avoid conflict. I'm not saying be a jerk but there's a difference between emotional intelligence and just being a weak pushover. I'm focusing on teaching mine to be strong but honorable. To lead by example, not by dominating. To stand up for what's right even when it costs you. This matters more than ever.
This resonates with me hard. We're trying to teach real values like work ethic, taking care of yourself, looking people in the eye, following through on what you say. Those things matter and they're not outdated just because the culture is changing.
I don't think it's about being strict so much as being clear. My boys know what I expect. They know what real looks like because they see it every day. That's not pressure, that's love.
