Raising boys to be men in a world that's forgotten how

My grandfather passed this year and at his funeral I realized something - he was one of the last real men I knew. Not because he was tough or aggressive, but because he kept his word, took care of his family without complaint, and carried himself with quiet dignity. My boys are 8 and 11 and I'm determined they understand what it means to be a man of character. Started teaching them to shake hands properly, say sir and ma'am, and that their word means something. Anybody else feel like this is getting lost?
