My youngest opened a door for an older lady at the grocery store yesterday and she seemed genuinely surprised. When did basic manners become so rare? Teaching my boys that respect for women isn't weakness, it's strength. You stand when a lady enters the room. You don't interrupt. You listen. These aren't outdated ideas, they're timeless. Feels like we're losing something as a culture.

That's awesome, man. My boys are getting there with the manners thing and it's wild how much it stands out now. You're doing something right if they're thinking about it naturally.
That's the kind of stuff that sticks with kids though. He's learning respect comes naturally when you just model it. Proud of him and proud of you for raising him to notice those moments.

This is huge. Teaching boys that respect is just basic decency instead of some performative thing is so important. That lady probably made his whole week too.
