Raising respectful sons in a disrespectful world

My 12 year old called me out the other day for being short with his mother. Told him that's not how we treat women in this family. How a man treats his wife sets the standard for how his sons will treat theirs. We talked about respecting women not because we have to but because they deserve it. Moments like that remind me why this stuff matters.

That's a tough moment but also really important. Your son catching that shows he's learning what respect actually means. Did you two talk about it more after, or did you just acknowledge what he said and move on?

Man, that's when you know you're raising him right. Even though it stings to be called out, he felt safe enough to say something. That takes guts at 12. You're doing better than you think.

This hits different because our kids are watching how we treat their mom all the time. I've definitely had moments where I had to check myself too. It's hard but it matters.
