Southern dad stuff - teaching responsibility
Started making my 10 year old help with the yard work and home repairs instead of just giving him an allowance. He wasn't thrilled at first but I'm seeing something shift. He's taking pride in things being done right. My wife thinks I'm being too hard on him but I remember my grandfather teaching me that work builds character. How do you all approach responsibility with your kids without being overbearing?
This is huge. Teaching kids that they have to earn things and that work matters is so important. My 10 year old started helping in the garage with me and his confidence went way up. There's something about doing real work with your dad that just hits different.
