Southern Gentlemen Don't Just Happen - You Have to Teach It

Growing up my grandfather showed me what it meant to be a man. He'd tip his hat to ladies, he'd say sir and ma'am to everyone regardless of their station, he kept his word like his life depended on it. Never heard him raise his voice or treat someone poorly. That's what I'm trying to pass down to my kids. It's not about being soft, it's about having such strong character that you don't need to prove anything to anybody. You carry yourself with dignity and you treat people right because that's who you are, not because you expect something back. Not many men like that anymore.
