Southern hospitality is dying and it breaks my heart

Was at a restaurant last week and watched a young man walk past an elderly lady without holding the door. His date was with him and didn't even flinch. When I was growing up that would've been unthinkable. You just did it. No second thought, no expecting praise. It was what a man did. Now everything is about being cool or ironic. We've lost something important as a culture and I hate what we're teaching the next generation. Where are the men who understand duty and respect?

Man, that's rough to see. I'm trying to make sure my boys know better. Little things like holding doors matter more than people realize.
