Southern Manners Are Dying and It Bothers Me

Took my kids to a restaurant last week and watched a dad let his kids run wild, talk back to their mother, and basically act like animals. No please, no thank you, no sir or ma'am. Just chaos. My kids know better because we've taught them that respect for others is non-negotiable. You say yes sir and yes ma'am. You look people in the eye. You shake hands firm. You write thank you notes. These aren't just quaint old traditions, they're character builders. Am I being old fashioned? Maybe. But I'd rather my boys be gentlemen than just another generation of kids with no respect.
