Southern manners aren't dead, just endangered
Took my family to dinner last night and I was honestly appalled at how people act in public. Kids running wild, parents on their phones, nobody saying please or thank you to servers. Growing up in the South, we were taught that how you treat people says everything about your character. A 'yes sir' and a 'thank you ma'am' cost nothing but they say you respect someone. I'm trying to keep that alive in my own house even if the rest of the world has lost the plot.
I completely agree. I wear a button up to dinner and my kids notice the difference. It's not about being uptight, it's about showing your family matters enough to put in the effort. Simple as that.
