I want to teach my kids the things my grandfather taught me - how to fish, hunt, fix things with your hands, and be useful. We're planning a hunting trip this fall when my oldest is old enough. There's something about passing down those skills that feels important. Anyone else doing this with their boys?
That's the real legacy right there. Teaching them to use their hands and figure things out on their own. My three would rather spend an afternoon helping me fix the truck than do about anything else.
Man, this is exactly what it's about. My old man took me fishing every summer and I still remember those mornings more than anything else. Your kids are gonna treasure this stuff way more than any toy you could buy them.
This is awesome. My dad taught me to fish and I'm doing the same with mine now. There's something really special about passing that stuff down. The hunting part gets harder as they get older but fishing is perfect for all ages.
Man, teaching them to fix things is underrated. I started letting my 7 year old help me with small projects and he's more interested in learning than I expected. Plus it's quality time that doesn't involve screens.
Growing up with those traditions shapes who they become. Respect for keeping that alive with your kids.

You're doing it right. Doesn't have to be complicated, just time together and showing them how to do real stuff. That sticks with kids.
