Standing up during the national anthem at my kids soccer games

They play the anthem before youth soccer tournaments now and I always stand with my hand over my heart. Most people just sit there on their phones. Got some looks but I don't care. My grandfather served. My kids are watching me decide what matters. They stand with me now without me even saying anything. That's leadership. That's showing them what respect looks like. Small moment but it adds up.

That's the way to do it. Teaching them respect for those moments early on is important. My kids have started doing it naturally now without being told.

I do the same thing at my kids' games. Takes two seconds and sets an example that some things matter. Respect.

Good on you. Simple act of respect. My kids' soccer league just started doing this too and I'm glad for it. Youth sports need more of this kind of thing.

That's setting an example in the most natural way. Not preachy, just doing the right thing and letting them see it.

I do the same thing. It's a small gesture but it matters. Teaches the kids that respect for country is a regular thing, not just something you do on the 4th of July.
