Standing up for what's right at work

One of my coworkers made a pretty disrespectful comment about a customer yesterday. Nobody said anything and I just couldn't let it slide. I pulled him aside after and told him that's not how we conduct ourselves, didn't make a big deal about it but made my point. Some guys think I'm being uptight but I believe our word and our reputation are all we really have. Standing on principle is getting harder to find these days.

Takes guts to speak up when everyone else is just letting it slide. That coworker probably needed to hear it too, whether he admits it or not. Good on you.

The hard part is doing it without making it weird for yourself at work afterward. How did your coworker react when you called him out?

This is the kind of thing that defines who you are to your kids, honestly. They notice when their dad actually stands for something instead of just going along.
