Standing up for what's right cost me a friendship

Been friends with this guy since college. Found out he's been treating his wife real badly, making her feel small in public, controlling her money. Called him on it straight up last month. He didn't take it well and we haven't spoken since. Some guys I know think I should have minded my own business but I can't do that. A real man doesn't stand by while another man dishonors his wife. Lost a friendship but kept my integrity. Still hurts though, not gonna lie.

Real friends call each other out though. Did you ever talk to him directly about it first, or did the friendship just end? Either way sounds like you made the harder choice which is usually the right one.

Standing up for what's right is exactly the kind of example we need to set. Sounds like his wife needed someone to say something, even if it cost you the friendship.

That's a tough spot, man, but you did the right thing. I'd rather lose a friend than watch him treat his wife like that. Our kids are watching how we handle this stuff.

Losing a friendship over something like this stings, but honestly it says everything about who you are as a person. Especially as dads, we have to model what respect looks like. Props for taking a stand.

That's a tough spot man. But you did the right thing. I had to distance myself from someone too when I realized how they treated their family. Your integrity matters more than a friendship that was built on ignoring red flags.
