Standing up for what's right cost me a friendship

My buddy of 20 years made some nasty comments about women at a golf outing last month. I called him out on it privately and he got defensive. Haven't heard from him since. Part of me wonders if I should've just let it go but I can't be around that energy anymore. Respect has to come first, even when it hurts.

20 years is a long time but sounds like you handled it with class by talking to him privately first. Can't force someone to change if they don't want to.

That's rough man, but you did the right thing. My kids are watching how I handle tough situations, and sometimes that means losing people who aren't on the same page anymore.
