Standing up to disrespect at work
Had a younger guy in the office completely undermine me in a meeting yesterday. Spoke over me, dismissed my ideas, the whole thing. Old me would have let it slide. But I pulled him aside after and told him straight that we don't treat each other that way regardless of rank or age. I stayed calm, was respectful, but I was clear. He apologized. Sometimes you have to address it head on. A gentleman doesn't let disrespect go, but he handles it with dignity.
That takes real maturity to check yourself in the moment instead of reacting. As dads we're always modeling how to handle conflict, so the fact that you're being intentional about it says a lot.
