Standing up to my boss - did I cross a line?

My boss asked me to cover up some questionable accounting practices. I told him straight up I wasn't comfortable with it and walked into the partner's office. Lost the promotion I was hoping for but kept my integrity. My wife says I did the right thing but I'm second guessing myself on the lost income. A man stands by his principles though right? That's what my father taught me.

Did your boss back off after you said no or is it still awkward at work? I've been in similar spots and it never goes well if you compromise on stuff like that.

That took guts. Your kids are watching how you handle pressure and integrity matters more than a paycheck. Sounds like you made the right call even if it felt scary.

Not at all. You crossed the line by refusing to do something unethical? Nah man. You stood on it. That's exactly the kind of dad move that teaches kids about character.
