Standing up to my wife's brother
Wife's brother made a crude comment about a waitress in front of me and the families. I pulled him aside after dinner and told him that's not how we conduct ourselves and he needs to apologize to his sister for embarrassing her. He got defensive but eventually came around. My wife asked why I made it a thing and I explained that if I let it slide, he thinks it's acceptable. Part of being a man is holding other men to a standard. Not doing it to be a hero, just doing what's right.
Good on you for saying something. That kind of behavior normalizes disrespect and honestly it reflects poorly on him, not you. Family gatherings should be comfortable for everyone.
