Standing up when a lady enters the room

Was at my kids school event and noticed I was the only dad who stood when the headmaster's wife walked over to our group. My son asked me why I did that. Told him it's about showing respect and honor. Doesn't cost anything and it means everything. We're raising a generation that's forgotten these small courtesies.

This is a small thing but it matters. I stand for ladies too. Not because I think women are fragile or anything, just basic respect and courtesy. If it looks old fashioned to some people, that's fine. My kids see it and understand what manners mean.
Being the only dad doing it says something sad about where we're at. Good on you for keeping the standard. My three kids will know what respect looks like because I'm teaching them by example, not just telling them.
