Standing up when a woman enters the room

My 8 year old asked me why I stand up when his mom comes home from work. I explained it's a sign of respect and courtesy. He's started doing it too now. His teacher even mentioned it at parent teacher conferences. Old school manners feel increasingly rare but they still matter. Teaching my kids that how you treat people reflects who you are as a man.

I do this too and honestly my kids have started doing it with me now. Didn't have to force it, they just picked it up from seeing it as normal behavior.

That's a great teaching moment. My kids notice stuff like that too and I like that it gives you a chance to talk about respect and manners in a natural way.

Love this. It's such a small thing but it sets a tone about how we treat people in our families. My 8 year old is at the same age where he's noticing stuff like this.
