Standing when a lady enters the room - is this outdated?
My wife thinks I'm being ridiculous teaching my kids to stand when she comes into the living room or when guests arrive. I disagree. It's not about thinking women are fragile, it's about showing respect and teaching them that courtesy and small gestures matter. My daughter actually likes it and my son is getting used to it. Maybe I'm old fashioned but manners seem to be going extinct and I'm not cool with that in my house.
Your wife might be coming around once she realizes it's not about old fashioned rules but about raising kids who notice and respect the people around them. That matters way more than whether they literally stand up.
