Started a Wednesday night dinner tradition and it's changing our family
Simple idea but we're eating dinner together every Wednesday at the table, no phones, and actually talking. Been doing it for three months now and my kids have opened up about stuff they never mention otherwise. My wife has noticed it too. The rule is everyone has to share something from their day and we go around. Cost me nothing but it might be the best thing I've done this year. If you're not doing something like this, seriously consider it.
How old are your kids? Curious if this works at different ages or if there's a sweet spot.
