Not in a controlling way. I mean taking responsibility for direction, setting the tone, being the steady hand. My wife and I make decisions together but someone has to lead and I believe that falls on me as the husband and father. Started reading some older parenting books and philosophy. Feel like a lot of that got lost. Curious if other guys here still think this way or if I'm just old fashioned.

100 percent. Leadership in the home isn't about being the guy making all the decisions. It's about setting the tone for how we treat each other and following through on what you say you're going to do.
This resonates. I try to be that steady presence in my house where my kids know what to expect from me. Not rigid, but consistent. That's the leadership piece that actually matters.

Appreciate you saying this. There's a difference between leadership and control and I think a lot of people miss that. Being a leader means you're humble enough to course correct and model the behavior you want to see.
