Taking care of your appearance isn't vanity

Had a conversation with my buddy about keeping up with grooming and appearance. He said it seemed like I cared too much about looking neat. I told him it's not about ego, it's about self respect and showing respect to the people around you. You don't have to be flashy but taking pride in how you present yourself matters. It affects how you feel about yourself and how others perceive your character. This is something I want to instill in my boys.

It's not vanity if it makes you feel better. That's just basic self care. Grooming keeps you sharp.

I started shaving regularly and getting haircuts instead of just doing it whenever and my whole mood improved. Turns out when you feel put together, you act like you're put together.

My kids actually notice when I'm making an effort with my appearance. They stand a little taller. It matters more than people think.
