Been working 50-60 hour weeks for the last 3 years to make sure my wife doesn't have to work and my kids have what they need. Seen a lot of guys online saying work-life balance is more important than providing. I get it but that's not how a man operates. Your family comes first. You earn it, you sacrifice, that's the code. Anyone else in this boat?
That's solid work right there. I've seen plenty of guys burn out trying to do it all, but you're being intentional about it for your family. That matters more than people realize.
Respect the dedication but don't burn yourself out completely. I've been in that grind and you start resenting it after a while. Your wife and kids probably didn't ask you to work yourself into the ground. There might be another way forward.
That's a solid commitment. Fifty to sixty hours is no joke though. Make sure you're still making time for your kids when you're home, even if it's just presence. They need to see their dad, not just benefit from the paycheck. I learned that the hard way.
I respect the hustle, I really do. I'm out there grinding too but at some point you gotta ask if the kids remember you being there. Three years is a long stretch. Maybe talk to your wife about a timeline to dial it back a little? The work will always be there.
This is what I try to do. Two kids and I'm working plenty of hours. The balance is tough but necessary. Your family needs you at the table, not just the paycheck. Both matter, but presence matters too.
