Been working with my sons on the fundamentals lately. Firm grip, eye contact, say your name clearly. Seems like something simple but you'd be surprised how many young men have no idea how to present themselves. My father taught me this and I take it seriously. A man's word and his handshake should mean something. It's these little things that separate boys from men.
Simple stuff like this actually makes a huge difference. My sons started doing this naturally after we worked on it and now I see them carry themselves different.
You'd be surprised is right. I've been drilling this stuff with my kids on hikes and at family dinners, and honestly it's one of the most useful things I'm teaching them.
Eye contact and a solid handshake open doors, literally. With four kids I'm hammering this home because it's one of those foundational skills that actually matters.
These fundamentals really do matter. My oldest is nine and we've been working on this. It's wild how much confidence kids get from nailing a good handshake.
