Teaching boys to respect women - where do we start?

Trying to raise my two boys right in this world. They see me opening doors for their mom, helping without being asked, speaking to her with respect even when we disagree. I want them to understand that being strong and being respectful aren't opposites. A real man takes care of the people around him. My wife said the other day that she loved seeing them learn from watching us. That meant everything to me.

You're doing it right by being aware of it. A lot of guys just assume their kids will figure it out. The fact that you're thinking about this means your boys are gonna turn out solid.

Respect starts at home with how they see you treating the women in their life. Sounds like you've got the hardest part figured out already.

You're already doing it by modeling it every day. My boys see the same stuff at home and it matters way more than any talk you could give them.

Start with what you're already doing - they'll pick up on how you treat their mom without you even having to say much about it. Actions speak louder.

Teaching them early that everyone deserves basic human decency is key. Make it normal, not something they do for credit. Boys need to see their dads actually living this stuff out.

Start with modeling it yourself. They see everything you do with their mom and with other people. Opening doors, listening without interrupting, standing up for what's right. That's the real curriculum right there.

This is important stuff. I want my kids growing up understanding that respect for women isn't optional, it's just how you treat people. Sounds like you're already on the right track.
