Teaching Financial Responsibility - My Approach
Started giving my oldest an allowance tied to actual chores, not participation trophies. He wants a new bike so I laid out exactly what he needs to earn and save. No shortcuts, no handouts. His mother thinks I'm being harsh but I disagree. He's learning that money comes from work, that goals take time and discipline. That's real education right there. He's 11 and already thinking about his future differently. This is how you raise men who take care of their responsibilities.
This is exactly what we're doing with our sticker charts but we're tying it to actual rewards they pick. So glad to hear other parents ditching the participation trophy thing. It actually means something when they earn it.
